At present the majority of producers quoted FeSi75# at RMB5,900-5,950/mt(USD961-969/mt) and FeSi72# at RMB5,600-5,650/mt（USD912-920/mt）, export duty not included and ex-work tax-inclusive price by acceptance in main production regions. A small number of producers offered even higher quotations. As the weather was getting cool, ferrosilicon producers were likely to gradually increase the production of FeSi75#, some Ningxia-Based producers were on the way to gradually operating their new furnaces and new projects were also seen in Inner Mongolia region.

The major consumers of ferrosilicon as well as other ferroalloys-the steel mills had significant influence over the prices and market of ferroalloys. In mid September some mainstream steel mills including HBIS, Baosteel and Ansteel Group basically reduced more than half of their steel products, which could put more pressures on the market. The export market of Chinese ferrosilicon suffered pressure of Malaysian ferrosilicon projects whose products were directly supplied to Japan steel mills were close to coming on stream.
