[Ferro-alloys.com] Silicon metal price kept flat after National Day in China. Price in Fujian increased by RMB 200/mt, because electricity price was turned up. Silicon metal market functioned well after National Day. More than 80% silicon metal stoves were functioning now.

Until the second week of October, quotations were as follows: Kunming delivered price for off-grade Si553#, RMB12,600-12,700/mt, Si553#, RMB13,100-13,200/mt and Si441#, RMB13,400-13500/mt; Tianjin port price for Si421#, RMB14,300-14,400/mt and Si411#, RMB14,500-14,600/mt; Si2202# and Si3303# prices were much higher.

Export market of Si metal: Silicon metal export price turned steady in the second week of October. And the price was much higher than last month. Until the second week of October, Si553# was USD 2,100-2,150/mt FOB, Si441# was USD 2,260-2,300/mt FOB, Si421# was USD2,310-2,330/mt FOB, Si 411# was USD2,330-2,350/mt FOB, Si3,303# was USD2,400-2,440/mt FOB and Si2,202# was USD2,500-2,550/mt FOB.

Western Si metal price remained stable in the second week of October. European Si 553# price was EUR 2200-2250/mt; the US was 144-147cents/lb. Indian silicon metal price was about USD2220/mt CIF. The price meant for Japan now surges close to US$2,200 per ton CIF, and rose by nearly US$200 from the end of August. The price hike in China is overlapping with yen depreciation, and both trading firms and customers have been bothered with the trading in Japanese yen. Korea Si441# was USD 2300-2370/mt CIF.

Analysis: Spot materials now in silicon metal market were difficult to find, and factories hoped the price turned higher.  And silicon metal price would continue to keep firm in late October.
