We felt lucky to successfully invite Mr Xin Renzhou-Deputy Director of Industrial Policy Department of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China to lecture on marco-economy situation and ferroalloy industry policy.

Mr Xin said Chinese economy had passed the period of high-speed growth, entering the stage of gradual steadiness and rationality. Under such economic situation, China attached greater importance to the development of quality. As for ferroalloy industry, tight control would remain on industry access system and greater review of the enlisted enterprises should accompany the implementation of newly established enterprises or projects. Ferroalloy producers which fell short of industry access standard would be asked to make rectification with a time limit and those failing to finish rectifications or refusing to do so would be cancelled from the list. Meanwhile, standard of elimination of outdated capacity had been set at an increasingly high level, for instance, most furnaces of 6,300KVA or even some 12,500KVA had been forcefully eliminated, which sent out signal of considering elimination standard when setting up new furnaces to ferroalloys producers.

When Mr Xin concluded his speech, he was embraced by warm applauses and active interaction from participants who posed questions about ferroalloy industry policies and made some suggestions of considering the actual situation of ferroalloy producers when the Government made new policies to MrXin. Regarding the elimination of outdated capacity, participants proposed considering what kind of ferroalloys and emphasizing on environmental indicators rather than furnace sizes. Mr Xin expressed ideality couldn’t occur in formulating policies, they would find problems in implementation and he would endeavor to make more scientific and complete access standards and he hoped producers of various types of alloys could well cooperate.

Mr Xin’s speech on marco-economy and policy trends would be an excellent reference for ferroalloys producers in predicting future development.
