[Ferro-Alloys.com]The tender prices of TISO and Baosteel are the benchmark prices for most ferrochrome producers in China. The production rate of ferrochrome kept falling in Shanxi, Sichuan and Inner Mongolia as the steel mills lowered their purchasing prices in October. Many producers have no stocks in late October. Prices for imported ferrochrome kept stable, and the import volume of ferrochrome in September is 141,200 tonnes, down 13.2% and 24.4% compared to Aug. 2014 and Sept. 2014, import volumes of ferrochrome from South Africa, India and Kazakhstan declined.

 

The high carbon ferrochrome (C6-8%, Cr60-65%) and low carbon ferrochrome (C0.1%, Cr60-70%) were quoted at $1.02-1.05（-0.03）/lb Cr and $2.1-2.12/lb Cr in the EU market last week respectively. High carbon ferrochrome (C6-8%,Cr60-65%) and micro carbon ferrochrome (C0.05%，Cr65%min) were quoted at $1.12(-0.02)-1.16(-0.01)/lb Cr Ex Pittsburgh and $2.25-2.27(-0.03)/lb Cr in US market, and the low carbon ferrochrome (C0.1, Cr62min%) was quoted at $2.08(-0.02)-2.12(-0.02)/lb Cr FOB Pittsburgh.

 

The prices for low and micro carbon ferrochrome kept stable in China in late October, however some medium producers lowered their quotation in order to get orders with ￥200/mt price cut. Currently, the mainstream quotations of low carbon ferrochrome C25, micro carbon ferrochrome C10 and C6 are ￥11,700-11,800/60mt, ￥11,900-12,000/60mt and ￥12,200-12,300/60mt respectively.

 

The prices of chrome metal were $9,100-9,450/t in EU market, down by $200/t. The prices kept stable in China with ￥58,000-61,000/t in Jinzhou and Tianjin, ￥54,000-55,000/t in Gansu. The supply of chrome metal kept a little tight due the large amount of export from the producers. Some producers said that the price kept stable due to the low demand of domestic market.
