It is reported that China totally produced 34.55 million tons of ferroalloys in 2014, showing a decreasing of 8.5% from last year by 3.21 million tons. Meanwhile, Chinese net imports of ferroalloys reached 1.19 million tons in 2014 ( 2.52 million tons of imports, 1.33 million tons of exports). In fact, the total supply of ferroalloy in China contracted by 3.04 million tons on the basis of 2013. However, rather than bringing about enough cushion on ferroalloy market, falling supply failed to put a brake on downtrend ferroalloys market.  Taking ferroalloy market prices in March of 2013 ,2014, 2015 for example repectively, many of products declining margin exceeds more than RMB1,000/mt. Prices for silicon manganese ranged from RMB7,250/mt in 2013 to RMB6,650/mt in2014 and to RMB 5,900/mt in 2015, prices for ferrosilicon dropped to RMB5,450/mt in 2015 from RMB6,100/mt in 2014 and RMB6,650/mt in 2013.As for high carbon ferrochrome, the price lowered to RMB 6,200/mt on the basis of RMB 6.600/mt in 2014 and RMB 7,350/mt in 2013.
