[Ferro-Alloys.com]As of April 1, 2015, India cut its export rebates for ferroalloy products from 6% to 2%, which means that Indian ferroalloys exporters have to increase their export prices for their products. Siliconmanganese, high-carbon ferrochrome and high-carbon ferromanganese are India's main ferroalloys products. The new policy indicates that the government would no longer encourage the ferroalloys export or related investment.

India exported 1.65 million tonnes of ferroalloys in 2014, mainly including 0.899 million tonnes of siliconmanganese, 0.453 million tonnes of high-carbon ferrochrome and 0.2 million tonnes of high-carbon ferromanganese, which made it the world's second largest ferroalloys exporter following South Africa. Japan, South Korea, Italy, China and Iran are the major destinations of India's ferroalloys export, and about 60% of its ferroalloys export had been imported by these countries.

China's ferroalloys products, including manganese products, ferrosilicon and ferrochrome, lost their price advantages since 2008 when China added 20-25% export tariff to them. Especially for manganese products and ferrochrome, they almost lost all of their global market shares. India's ferroalloys export rebates reduction, to some extent, would definitely increase its export prices and even the prices with China's. On the other hand, China's declining ferroalloys prices would cut the export prices, which would make it possible for more ferroalloys export. But whether China's ferroalloys products could replace India's in global market depends on factors such as price difference, credits and logistics.

What effect will India's ferroalloys export rebates reduction have? Whether the exporters will cut their prices or not and by how much. How China, one of India's major importers of ferroalloys, will react to the India's new policy? Will the new policy increase China's ferroalloys export? Mr. Manish Sarda, President of Sarda Energy & Mining Limited-one India's largest ferroalloys producers, will attend and give keynote about India's ferroalloys market analysis at 12th China Ferroalloys International Conference on May 27-29. Welcome to the Conference.
