The European Commission (EC) began to investigate a dumping of Indian silico manganese from December 2014, but did not make a clear announcement about whether the antidumping (AD) duty would be levied or not and if so, when AD duty would be levied, and there is only anticipation of enforcement in the market. For that reason, there is such wishful thinking in some parts of the market as this will be dead little by little, but such anticipation has recently been reignited as AD duty will be levied around the end of March. No formal notice has come from EC up until now, but it is quite likely that the producers in India will show reluctance to restart export to Europe if they hear just about this rumor. As to the enforcement of AD duty on Indian silico manganese, there was a rumor around July 2015 that AD duty would be levied from September and the export of silico manganese to Europe from India dropped in the extreme, but AD duty was not levied as a result, which led to the continuing drop in the price of silico manganese in the Asian market. |
