It is said that the price rise of SiCa cored wires is mainly supported by the raw materials price rise. According to the insiders, the SiCa block (standard) has increased 5%, now the price is RMB9, 600/mt (without tax). The price of SiCa powder has increased by 4%. The main reason of price rise of SiCa alloy is the shortages of supply, which may bring the let up after long term depression.

A source from Anayng Changxin told us that currently the sales volumeof SiCa alloy is around 300 mt per month. Still the profit is not favorable regardless of the price rise.

According to Anyang Tiefa Metallurgy Refractories Co.,Ltd, now the ex-work price of SiCa cored wires（Ca28Si55∮13㎜） is RMB8,200/ mt, slightly up by RMB100-200/mt. The sales volume is 40—60 mt per month.

“Currently the ex-work price of SiCa cored wires is about RMB8, 000/ mt. But our production depends on the orders so that the production and sales volume are not stable, which has been worse than the previous years. Other cord wires like C cored wires and boron iron cored wires have few orders.” A source from Qianan Mingjie Refractories Co., Ltd told us.

Reportedly, now the production of C cored wires has replaced the production of SiCa cored wires as the major business of Anyang Fengfan Silicon Industry Co.,Ltd.

So energized by the supply shortage and price rise of raw materials, the SiCa cored wires have seen the price increase. Many producers have ceased the production of SiCa cored wires, which may lead to the supply shortage, thus in the near term the price of SiCa cored wires will probably raise.
