 REC Group, the leading European brand for solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, today announced the name change of its Norwegian entity, “Elkem Solar”, to “REC Solar Norway”. The name change is the natural next and final step in the integration process of Elkem Solar and REC Group, which officially began in October 2016. The renaming is legally effective as of today, without having any impact on the legal entity itself.

By using the solar grade silicon of Elkem Solar (now REC Solar Norway) in its manufacturing process, REC Group has further reduced the energy payback time and carbon footprint of REC solar panels, while increasing power. The production of the high-quality solar grade silicon in Norway uses 75% less energy than conventional Siemens production methods. Thanks to this leading integrated value chain, REC Group launched four new products in 2017, with world-record power levels, and won three industry and environment awards.
