[ferro-alloys.com]Norilsk Nickel Group’s 2017 Sustainability Report has received a number of awards, with experts at Russian and international contests noting the traditionally high level of information disclosure in the Company’s reports.

At the XXI Annual Report Competition held by Moscow Exchange and RCB Media Group in early December 2018, Nornickel won the Best CSR Report and Sustainability Report category. With over 130 companies participating, the contest is one of Russia’s topmost events in the fields of corporate governance and investor relations. The winners are determined by a panel of independent experts from consulting, investment and management companies, as well as from government agencies.

In November 2018, the Company won Deloitte’s Green Frog Award for its report, and received a diploma from the RAEX (Expert RA) rating agency for the Best Design of the CSR Report. The document was also praised at MarCom Awards, an international competition, where Nornickel received the Platinum Award Statuette in two nominations — Best Report and Best Design. The MarCom Awards recognises outstanding achievements in marketing and communications.

“The 2017 report is the Company’s first document that discloses the sustainable development initiatives it implemented,” said Svetlana Ivchenko, Head of the Social Policy Department at MMC Nornickel. “It carries a strategic significance for us, and the multiple awards it has won serve as a testament to its high quality.” Ms Ivchenko also noted that the report is a natural response to the demand by the market, which now places higher expectations on companies when it comes to sustainable development.

Nornickel was a pioneer among Russian companies when it published its first non-financial report in 2004. The Company’s reports comply with the principles of the UN Global Compact, which Nornickel voluntarily joined in 2016. Over the past two years, Nornickel has substantially supplemented and updated the policies and codes that govern its day-to-day operations, bringing these documents more in line with the UN Global Compact.

The market has always given high praise to Nornickel’s non-financial reports. The Company receives the MarCom Awards’ Platinum Awards Statuette each year, and it won at the LACP Vision Awards — an annual report contest held by the League of American Communications Professionals since 2002 among companies from around the globe. In 2015, the Company’s report received gold at the LACP Vision Awards, while the 2014 CSR Report made it into the Top 10 of public non-financial reports globally.
