Optioned by Idaho General Mines (now General Moly) in 2004, the Mt. Hope mine has had a long haul in terms of obtaining appropriate permits and raising capital, much of which was conditional on completing the permitting process. With an expected mine life of over 40 years, Mt. Hope contains 1.3-billion lb of moly in proven and probable reserves. General Moly expects to produce 40-million lb of Mo over the first five years of operation. Hanlong and the China Development Bank are providing the lion’s share of financing for the $1.284-billion project.
