According to the statistics of Indian Ministry of Steel, in the first eight months of fiscal year 2021-22 (April to November), India's steel production reached 76.44 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 20%.
The Indian Ministry of Steel has established a joint working group (JWG) to increase domestic steel consumption, especially rural demand. It is said that India's state-run SAIL and Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) have been instructed to expand their rural distribution network to get close to customers and promote steel consumption in rural India.
