【Ferro-alloys.com】:Japanese heavy machinery manufacturer Komatsu is investing in new facilities in Brazil's Minas Gerais and Pará states to serve demand from the mining industry.

The company is investing a total of 175mn reais (US$35.7mn) in the country, with 120mn reais going on building new facilities in Contagem, Minas Gerais state.

"We have a perspective that production of iron ore and also copper will increase in Brazil in the coming years, and we want to serve our customers even better in this scenario," Ricardo Alexandre Vieira dos Santos, vice president of the mining division of Komatsu in Brazil, told BNamericas.

The unit in Contagem will be the new headquarters of the firm's mining division in Brazil and it will cover the equipment maintenance and repair areas, and will also have a parts warehouse. Construction works are scheduled to begin this month and it is expected to go into operation in late 2025.
