[Ferro-Alloys.com] It is reported that Tata Steel is planning to slash more jobs in its European unit to save operating expense amid the slowdown in demand of steel globally.

According to earlier report, the company would retrench as much as 1,500 positions in European operations, mainly in its Northern England, but no detailed figured released so far.

One official of the company said Tata Steel Europe will reduce its present capacity from 18MTPA to around 14 MTPA this year.
