According to statistic of Japan Customs, Japan imported 21742 tons of silicon metal in December, up by 18.8% Y-O-Y.

According to statistic of Korea Customs, S.Korea imported 13329 tons of silicon metal in January 2015, up by 8.6% Y-O-Y.

Silicon metal price kept steady before Spring Festival in China. Low-grade silicon metal was in short supply in the second week of February. That was because many silicon metal factories in the south of China shut down and operating rate was low.

Silicon metal price got warm in the first week of February in China.

The price of low-grade silicon metal in the Chinese domestic market maintained being flat from the end of December, and there is no indication the realization sales will take place before Chinese New Year holiday (18th to 24th of February).

On January 29, Japan Aluminium Alloy Refiners Association released the result of demand & supply for silicon metal and the production result of secondary aluminium alloy products in the full year 2014 as well as in December.
